Cersei’s Revenge On Ellaria Might Be The Show’s Most Brutal Act Of Violence

Game of Thrones is famous for its fair share of gruesome moments. After six seasons most of the fans have become desensitized to violence. But that doesn’t mean there will not be any violence in the future, the following events in the “Stormborn” indicate that there will be more violence in the upcoming episode.

In the previous episode of Game of Thrones, we have seen how Euron attacks the Yara’s Iron Fleet with his troops and his infamous ship silence. In this ultra-violet battle, Euron captures Yara along with Ellaria Sand and her daughter, Tyene. He captured Yara and Ellaria to present them to Cersei as a gift that he promised. And now he is heading to King’s Landing.

Next Episode name is Queen’s Justice

We all know how recently crowned queen Cersei takes her revenge. How she used the wildfire to obliterate the Great Sept of Baelour, killing scores of people inside without even a facial twitch of remorse.

Now imagine what kind of acts she will have in store for her new captives and particularly Ellaria Sand, the woman who killed her only daughter Myrcella Baratheon. Tyrion Lannister referred her as “sweet and innocent girl”. While returning to King’s Landing, Myrcella dies from a poisoned kiss from Ellaria Sand, she died in the arms of Jaime Lannister her real father.

Now Cersei is ready to take her vengeance. A theory is now floating on Reddit that may have predicted what Ellaria’s punishment will be. This theory is based on the events that occur before Season 1 of Game of Thrones TV show.

The Horrific Murder Of Elia Martell

One of the most horrific death in the George R.R Martin’s world is of Elia Martell and her children. Elia Martell was married to Prince Rhaegar Targaryen and resided at King’s Landing during the era of Robert’s Rebellion. During that time Lannister turned against the Targaryens and Tywin Lannister commanded Ser Gregor Clegane to kill Elia and her two children. And he did that in the most brutal way possible.

Gregor burst unexpectedly into the Royal Chambers, where Elia was staying. In front of her own eyes, he murdered her daughter, Rhaenys, and her infant son, Aegon, the latter by viciously smashing his body against a wall. While still covered in the blood of her offspring, Clegane raped Elia, before crushing her skull to a pulp using his inhuman strength.

In Season 4 the infamous Trail by combat between Oberyn and Gregor, Oberyn — the brother of Elia and Ellaria’s lover — demanded The Mountain to confess that Tywin gave the order for him to kill Elia. The Mountain did confess — but only after catching Oberyn off-guard by tripping him and crushing his skull in the same way.

To take revenge Cersei will cross all the limits and with the Mountain on her side, she may order him to act out the events in the same way, with Ellaria the victim; killing Tyene in front of her own eyes, before raping her and crushing her skull. In my point of view, it will be one of the hardest moments to watch throughout Game of Thrones seven season run.

There could be a way out for Ellaria, though she is in a position of checkmate. For a split moment, as she climbs the stairs after her capture, she appears to grab something from her skirt. Is this a stash of poison (check the image below)? If so, she may digest the poison before Cersei has a chance. Death seems inevitable, but the best hope she has is that when it arrives, it’s quick and painless.

Do you think Cersei will reenact the murder of Elia as an act of revenge?
