Game of Thrones actor reveals his killed-off character is making a comeback

With filming underway on the last series, how Game of Thrones finally ends is a closely-guarded secret.

But one actor has accidentally given away that his killed-off character will be making a comeback, thanks to a poorly timed selfie.

Wilf Scolding, who played Rhaegar Targaryen in a crucial season seven scene, shared a selfie to Instagram of him outside the Europa Hotel in Belfast — near where Game of Thrones is filmed.

Despite deleting the incriminating image, the picture was screengrabbed and it wasn’t long before it was circulating on social media.

Scolding played Rhaegar in a key flashback scene witnessed by Bran Stark last season.

Despite having been killed by Robert Baratheon before the Game of Thrones series began, Rhaegar was an often-referenced character blamed for starting the unrest in Westeros.

Using his warg powers to travel back in time, Bran learnt that Rhaegar had married his aunt Lyanna Stark out of love and had not kidnapped her as previously thought.

Crucially, the end of season seven finally confirmed that Bran’s half brother Jon Snow was in fact Lyanna and Rhaegar’s child and heir to the iron throne.

This is set to make things complicated for Jon as his lover Daenerys Targaryen is Rhaegar’s sister therefore his aunt, and is also vying for the iron throne.

Game of Thrones will return in 2019, with episodes of the final season set to air movie length episodes.
