Game of Thrones Season 7 is on its way and today we have brought some of the most loved Game of Thrones Duos.
Arya is one of the fan’s favorite character in the show and her tense movement with the coolest and most ruthless man of Westeros were fantastic. Though the screen time that this duo shares is very less as compare to other but fans really enjoyed this duo. Tywin Lannister seems to enjoy her company, as she serves him well. It was really a fascinating combination of two most fascinating characters in the show and it also gave a real insight into Tywin Lannister.
Okay, they’re not the most serious characters in the show, nor have either had a massive effect on the race for the Iron Throne, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t important characters to have around.
Sam and Gilly share an unusual relationship from starting. When Sam saw Gilly for the first time he felt something for her. After that Gilly becomes the source of sheer determination of Sam. He started doing things for her that old feeble Sam simply wouldn’t like taking stand in front of two Night’s Watch who tried to threatened Gilly.
They teach each other things in differing ways, and compliment each other well, adding a little bit of joy to the otherwise stoney-faced world they live in.
They were brought together at the end of Season Four, and, two seasons later, they are one of our favourite duos. Brienne’s refusal to give up on her quest to save the Stark girls and Pod’s devotion to serve her has made them an endearing duo. Each has also enabled the other to grow. Brienne has trained Pod to fight. Pod has helped Brienne come to terms with her status as a Lady. They are also one of the few surviving duos on the show and we hope they both stay that way for the upcoming seasons! However, this is Game of Thrones and survival is always a lottery.
Their Journey has been the longest in the show as they traveled from Pentos on the west coast of Essos, all the way across the Dothraki Sea to the east side of the continent, before heading down through the Red Waste to the edge of the world in Qarth, then trekking along the south coast and around Slaver’s Bay to Meereen.
Their relationship had lots of ups and downs in the show. A lot of tension arises between them when Jorah’s previous ‘spy’ mission was uncovered. After that he was exiled. He He has returned to Meereen with the gift of Tyrion Lannister, but even that wasn’t enough to bring forgiveness. He’s got one last shot at winning the Queen he loves around in the fighting pits. Now Daenerys has ordered him to find a cure for this disease and come back. We have to wait and watch how their relationship goes ahead.
In Season 2 Catelyn Stark tasked Brienne with the duty of returning the Kingslayer back to King’s Landing so that he can release stark daughter. When Brienne got her hands on Jaime he was a scruffy, two-handed, smirking villain, but she changed him. They had a rough time in their journey towards King’s Landing.
Jaime’s redeeming moment of transformation came when he rescued Brienne from the bear pit at the ominous fortress of Harrenhal. They are the most unlikely duo but they do share the mutual respect for each other. Now they are in the opposite ends of the Westeros, with little of seeing each other again.
In beginning no one thought that Kingslayer will make so many friends. This time his duo is with Bronn. Tyrion introduced Bronn to Jaime to train him after he lost his right hand. Bronn was important to re-train the handless Lannister. They share most of the screen when thet traveled to Dorn. They went together because they are just friends and they quite basically like being around each other. Without their wise-cracking jokes and friendship, the fairly weak Dorne storyline would have completely flopped.
No one can deny that this is the most shocking duo we have seen on the show. Ramsay kidnapped Theon and after that he tortured and damaged Theon a.k.a Reek. He then removed his penis and send it to his father in a box. Ramsey psychologically breaks him down to the level of an obedient dog.
Ramsay proves his sheer control of Reek by confidently handing him a razor and asking for a close shave. Just a millimetre closer to his throat, Reek would’ve instantly ended Ramsay, but he simply couldn’t do it. The second scene comes when Ramsay gives Reek a bath. It sounds simple, and it was. Theon simply sits in the bath, while his ‘master’ cleanses him. It’s edge-of-the-seat viewing and adds to their bizarre, torturous relationship.
This duo has a lot to do in the upcoming season but their screen share in last season was just awesome. Season 5, Episode 8 ‘Hardhome’ may be remembered for its epic white walker climax, but the initial discussions between Tyrion and Daenerys are fantastic. From that to last scene they share in which she makes Tyrion the Hand of The Queen was just amazing. Daenerys’ storyline was stale, but Tyrion has a golden touch, with any scene he enters turning into something wonderful. Things are really going to turn incredible with this duo.
Now this is something looks like a duo. Tyrion and Bronn were the original buddy duo. They were the original Game of Thrones odd Couple, with their friendship build on trust and gold. They saw each other through tough times and both came out with their heads still attached to their shoulders. It was a sad end to their partnership when Bronn declined to fight The Mountain in Tyrion’s trial by combat. His excuses were honest and more than reasonable, but despite that, there’s a genuine sense of fondness from both sides, and both characters are so popular they’re impossible not to love. Their reunion seems far away but if it happens it will be glorious.
10. Tyrion & Varys
The mater of whispers and the new Hand of the King in Season 2 were joined together in the War of the Five Kings. They both wanted to save King’s Landing. They both wanted to defeat Stannis. Tyrion’s role was to keep Joffrey from losing his crown and to also prepare the city of King’s Landing for war. Varys helps him in this. They both admire each other. Now they have again joined but under new ruler i.e Daenerys targaryen. One can assume their relationship will continue to entertain viewers for the upcoming seasons. I for one am looking forward to it!
11. Jon Snow & Dolorus Edd
Dolorus Edd and Jon Snow are the longest running duo. Edd is now 999th Lord Commander.
After Sam departed for Oldtown in Season 5, Jon Snow and Dolorus Edd grew closer. They went beyond the wall together to save Wildlings. Edd played an important role in the resurrection of Jon Snow as he successfully sneaked out of Castle Black and brought Wildlings back with him to stop Ser Alliser from destroying Jon’s body.
Now that Jon has abandoned the watch, Edd is in charge of defending The Wall. However, I doubt Jon will simply forget about the threat from the White Walkers. Season 7 will see the two once again reunited beneath The Wall.
12. Danny & Missandei
Missandei played an important role in Daenerys Journey towards Westeros. After Doreah’s betrayel of Danny in Season two and the murder of her other handmaids in Qarth, Danny is left without any female friends or servants. Missandei was a slave in Astapor and Dany released her free. Niw Missandei is Danny’s most trusted advisors. They now share a very close relationship and we are going to see more in upcoming Season.
13. Jon Snow & Tormund
A new dynamic duo formed in the build up to the Battle of the Bastards. Jon Snow and Tormund had previously shared many scenes together. The respect each had for the other was obvious. Not only are they both great fighters, they also share a real bond due to the experiences they have had in battle, firstly with each other at Castle Black and then together during the attack on Hardhome. In the latest Game of Thrones Season 7 trailer we have seen this duo running for their life beyond the Wall. Let’s see how long will this dynamic duo will survive. All we can do is hope!
14. Davos Seaworth and Shireen Baratheon
Shireen was isolated due to her Dragonscale, also aided by her religious nut of a Mother and Stannis being busy trying to take over the world. Ser Davos befriended the young girl and she taught him to read, giving us some rather heart-warming scenes earlier in the show. Ser Davos’ friendship with the littlest and sweetest Baratheon was fundamental in building up his character to be the charming Geordie that we still know and love today. Davos was absent for Shireen’s traumatic sacrifice. Davos came to know about Shireen’s traumatic sacrifice after Battle of Bastards and he told Jon about it. After that Jon ordered Melisandre to go south.
15. Jon and Ygritte
Jon Snow and his Wildling lover, Ygritte. Whilst Jon used Ygritte to get closer to Mance Rayder, she certainly gave him some of her fierce nature and helped him to become a stronger person, which played a crucial role in getting him to where he is today. Despite their differences and penchant for shooting each other, Jon ultimately fell in love with Ygritte and his relationship with her began to sow the seeds of doubt in his mind regarding his position in the Night’s Watch. Their relationship also gave us one of the best lines in the show, with her iconic line ‘you know nothing, Jon Snow’.
16. Arya-The Hound
The match up between Arya and The Hound is one of the best duos in TV history. The Hound Kidnapped Arya from Riverlands and after that both developed a strange relationship.
Their relationship was very complex, but flickers of friendship evidently shone through, even if neither would admit their fondness of the other.
The relationship between Arya and The Hound was dark, comedic and ultimately tragic, as Arya left him to die. Yet the Hound survived, so a reunion is on the cards this season. Fingers crossed!
